Elephants
Elephants eat mainly grasses, leaves, shrubs, fruits and roots.
They live in a diverse range of habitats like wetlands, forests, deserts, grasslands and savannas.

Tigers
Tigers eat around one main meal a week and are carnivores (which means they mostly eat meat!)
They can live in many different environments: Rainforests, grasslands, mangrove swamps, and even snowy areas!

Giraffes
Giraffes are herbivores (which means they mainly eat plants!) They like to eat things that are high up like leaves and tree branches.
Giraffes live primarily in savanna and woodland areas.

Penguins
Humboldt penguins eat mainly small fish, squid, and crustaceans.
They live along rocky Pacific coasts in Peru and Chile.

Lions
Lions are carnivores (which means they mostly eat meat!)
They prefer to live in the open plains, grasslands, savannas and dense scrub.
Did you know? Lions rest for long periods, even up to 20 hours a day!
Bears
Bears eat both plants and animals, however most of their diet is made up of plants. They love berries, especially blueberries.
Bears mostly live in forests and mountain regions.
Did you know? By late summer, blueberries can make up a large part of a grizzly bear’s diet!
Owls
Owls eat mainly small animals such as mice, rats, frogs, birds, and insects.
Owls live in deserts, prairies, and even the Arctic tundra. They nest into trees and holes in the ground.
Did you know? Owls can turn their heads about 270 degrees, which is three-quarters of a full circle!
Monkeys
Monkeys are omnivores, so they eat meat and plants but mostly fruits, nuts, seeds, insects and reptiles.
Monkeys generally live in tropical rainforests across Africa, Asia, Mexico, and Central and South America. There are about 250 different types.
Did you know? Monkeys sleep sitting up in trees to avoid predators!
Pandas
Giant pandas eat mainly bamboo: the leaves, stems and shoots. They need 70 to 100 pounds of it every day.
They live in mountain forests in central China, where thick bamboo grows underneath the trees.
Did you know? A panda has an extra wrist bone that works like a thumb, which helps it grip bamboo stems!
